The Military Psychiatrist: Planning for the Future and Taking Your Career to the Next Level

Who: Lt Col Eric Meyer (U.S. Air Force), LTC Samuel Preston (U.S. Army), CDR Elle Schollnberger (U.S. Navy)

What: Gain wisdom from senior military psychiatrists in the diverse pathways to career success. Panelists will highlight the multitude of career opportunities within each service branch and the different tracks for career progression. Such examples include embedded, MTF, academic, policy, and executive medicine. Panelists will also review strategies to succeed and innovate in an ever-changing DHA environment. The event will close with an interactive discussion of what is on the horizon and how we as military psychiatrists can be prepared for the next mission.

When: 05 OCT 1800-1900 EST (please arrive 10 minutes early)

Why: This is an opportunity for attendees to learn how to become more effective in their practice. They will learn of the different career opportunities and strategies for career progression. Learn about the leading edge in military psychiatry by senior leaders and how to prepare for the future.


Agenda:

1800-1805: A brief opening discussion by the panel
1805-1830: Breakout sessions for service-specific discussion of career opportunities 
1830-1900: Panel discussion on advance planning and strategies for success in a changing military and DHA environment
